Copper Bracelet Class with Tanya McCormick

Come join me out at my country studio this Saturday afternoon in Luskville for a jewellry class and refreshments. The class will be taught by the lovely and talented Tanya McCormick. Tanya is a self-taught jewellery designer who has been working with metal and gemstones for over 25 years. The Northern Lights Show 2018

Last month we had the pleasure of taking the girls to the Northern Lights trade show. My old friend and roommate from my Yellowknife days was one of the artists in the Arts & Cultural Pavilion and I hadn't seen her in almost 20 years (man that makes me feel old). I thought it would also be a good cultural experience for the girls and let's be honest, it is hard to keep me away from an art show. So, I thought I would do a little post on it in case it might entice anyone to check out it next year.   Here is one of the talented artists I met, Andrew Qappik,  who did ...

High Tea Birthday Party

Our little ginger turned 7 this year. I know we all say this but time really does fly by. We think those little quirks and phases our kids are going through are going to last forever. Like when Amelia used to build these elaborate 3-D animals, houses and dragons out of white paper and tape (which constantly covered the living room). A Trip to South Pond Farm

I don't know if you know this about me but I love finding little known reality tv shows that are more documentary style then drama and ridiculousness. So, I was thrilled to find Taste of the Country which is about a single mom with four girls who moves out to the country and rehabilitates an old farm including a huge barn and turns it into a business. She hosts weddings, cooking events, classes and craft workshops. I was even more excited to find out she was Canadian and lived about an hour from my in-laws in Pontypool, Ontario. So, on our way home from the annual Baal Christmas dinner, we ...

A Creative Soul in Quebec City

I was lucky enough to get to Quebec city for a conference with work and our hotel was pretty close to Old Quebec with great little shops and restaurants not far away. Only downside is I didn't get to visit anything that wasn't in the downtown area but there was enough to check out so I was ok with that. Everything was decorated for Christmas so the city was even prettier then it usually is. The little side streets with the row houses reminded me very much of Paris. This restaurant had the cutest planters. There was also a pretty awesome General Store filled with antiques and a few ...
