When we lived in Aylmer, one of our favourite things to do when we had company, or a Sunday with no agenda, was to take a drive out to Lavender Ridge. It is a lavender farm and winery out in Luskville, Quebec on Highway 148. They love to do wine tastings, no matter what time of day and always have yummy bread and goodies for sale. Now that we have moved out to Luskville and they are minutes away, their bread has become a weekend staple.
Their wine is pretty nice and has won some awards. Don’t forget to ask for a tasting if you pop-by. They usually give you an amazing lavender shortbread cookie to sample as well.
They also have beverages of the non-alcoholic kind that I have yet to try (when there is wine, it is a difficult choice) but I am sure they are top notch, like everything else they do.
Joanne is always in the kitchen baking up her famous tomato pies or delicious bread. Amelia likes to remind us to pick up her favourite, which is the lavender, but the Focaccia is just as good.
They have a nice patio outside to enjoy your treats.
Some of their gorgeous lavender.
They have a tire swing and usually a few things to keep the kids busy in the front yard of the store.
Joanne has also made a whole line of lavender products from their plants. You can see their products on their website here if you can’t make it out to their store in person.
It is so important to support local to keep great businesses like this alive. So, if you are in the area, pack a picnic and pay them a visit. I promise you won’t regret it.
