A Creative Soul in Quebec City

December 12, 2017 by Renée

I was lucky enough to get to Quebec city for a conference with work and our hotel was pretty close to Old Quebec with great little shops and restaurants not far away. Only downside is I didn't get to visit anything that wasn't in the downtown area but there was enough to check out so I was ok with that. Everything was decorated for Christmas so the city was even prettier then it usually is. The little side streets with the row houses reminded me very much of Paris. This restaurant had the cutest planters. There was also a pretty awesome General Store filled with antiques and a few ...

A Creative Soul in Merrickville

October 20, 2017 by Renée

My hubby and I (still getting used to saying that) just got married in September and haven't had a honeymoon yet. So I thought it would be nice for both of us to take a day off of work so we could spend it together. Time alone is something that is a little difficult for us to do, but oh so important. So, we decided to take a day trip to one of my favourite little towns that has all kinds of charm. It is one of those communities that has no big box stores and they do everything in their power to keep it that way. My first stop in Merrickville is always Whistlepost Antiques. They are a bit of a ...

A Creative Soul In Iqaluit

August 2, 2017 by Renée

Well, I finally made it to Iqaluit. I spent quite a bit of time up north in Yellowknife but had never made it over to Iqaluit but always wanted to. It was for barely 24 hours but at least I got there. It had been so long since I had flown Canadian North, it felt like I was going home. Definitely much better then regular airlines, they served warm chocolate chip cookies. Check out this crazy looking airport. When I stepped out of the airport I was surprised by how frontier it felt. This is the main road with the only stop sign. There was a bit of a “traffic jam” at the end of the work day ...

A Creative Soul in Truro, N.S.

June 10, 2017 by Renée

I have been doing a bit of travelling with work lately and every time I find out where I am going I always try to get a bit of an inside scoop as to where I should go while I am there. I know there is always TripAdvisor and websites that have the most touristy places to visit but those are not the places that I am particularly interested in. Being a creative soul I like to try and find local gems and since I don’t usually have a ton of time to explore, it would be nice to get some leads. Well, I never seem to be able to find this information so I decided that it might be fun to start sharing ...

Amelia wanted me to make her an Amigurumi cow and Amelia wanted me to make her an Amigurumi cow and told her there was no way since I mostly crochet straight lines. With her encouragement I decided to try an easier bee pattern. 4 hours later, this is what I ended up with. A few mistakes, but it’s cute! I may be addicted.
