Monday Journal – Tea

January 7, 2019 by Renée

Isn’t tea just everything? What is about the hot liquid that just soothes the soul? Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge and daily coffee drinker, it literally gets me out of bed some days. But, when I or someone I love is upset, sick, cold, or in need of some comfort, tea always saves the day. I think part of it is also the ritual. Takes you away from the chaos of life as you wait for that kettle to boil, then to steep and cool before you can drink it. No wonder the Tea ceremony is one of Japan’s most important cultural institutions.

After partaking in way too many sweets and alcohol over the holidays, I have decided to use tea to get me out of the bad habits that I have developed over the last month. Why not, it has 0 calories, is an antioxidant, has less caffeine then coffee and is supposed to have a bunch of other health benefits as well. Every night before bed, I will sit and have a cup of tea instead of sneaking into the kitchen to see what sweets are left. One little habit to help make my 2019 a better one. So, in honour of that, my Monday Journal this week is all about the warm and tasty beverage.

I started the background with map paper and an old book. I can’t believe how much of a pink person I am turning into. I used to hate it!

I am totally in love with the texture on this part of the page. It was done with a vintage doily and built up paint. Also, that pink, green and gold together is life!!

I know most people have probably completely forgotten about rub-ons but I am still obsessed. I used them on the bottom left corner there, but I use them sparingly as they seem to be harder and harder to find.

I must also start taping my Monday Journal process in 2019 to make it a little more interesting and hopefully inspiring for those that need a kick in the butt to get creating.

Hope everyone had an amazing holiday season. I know I did. Getting to spend quality, quiet time with the family is the best.

If you have any little things you are doing to help improve your 2019, please let me know in the comments!
